This page contains a timeline of events from Planescape and associated media.
There is no standard system of measuring years in Sigil beyond the current year of Factol Hashkar's reign (YFHR), so that standard will be used here. Events preceding Hashkar's reign will be represented with BFHR (Before Factol Hashkar's Reign). Other timekeeping methods may also be covered where appropriate.
After the War[]
After the publication of Planescape: Faction War
, timeline data is scarce. Particularly with the change in editions, it's uncertain when various entries from 3rd edition and 4th edition are meant to take place, other than "after the Faction War."
This is exacerbated by 5th edition, which was a semi-reboot, with some evidence that places it post-Faction War (e.g. the existence of the Mind's Eye), and some that seems to suggest the Faction War never happened -- or hasn't happened yet (e.g. the various missing factols, including those killed in the War, are back in charge).
In absence of other evidence, DMs may assume the standard set during 2nd edition -- that one publication year is equivalent to one year in-universe -- is still in place, making the current year, 2025 equivalent to 157 YFHR.
Other Events[]
- There's a yearly gala in the Lady's Ward at the Palace of the Jester, called "Grace." Each year it's hosted by a different family who, of course, try to outdo the previous year's celebration.[1] Grace is held on the first day of the year (at least, on Guvner calendars).[2]
- The Guildhall Ward has a quarterly street festival and celebration called Harmony, covering the final few days of the month, once every three months.[3]
- The Festival of Doors, once a spiritual event, has become an excuse for raucous celebration, particularly among the upper class. Cavefire wine, a rare commodity from the Shadowfell, is essential to proper celebration, but also includes ice apples and glitterbeasts.[4]
- After Vecna's defeat in 132 YFHR, Sigil celebrates with a week-long festival, sure to be enacted on a regular basis.[5]
Note[]
- Much like the AD/CE and BC/BCE system, there is no "year zero." When Hashkar becomes Factol, that is the beginning of 1 YFHR. As such, be careful with subtraction for past events: an extra number must be added to the numerical value. For example: 500 years before 130 YFHR would be 371 BFHR, not 370.
