Planescape Wiki

The powers are a term used by planars to refer to the gods of the Outer Planes, although it sometimes also refers to other incredibly powerful beings, like the Lords of the Nine, who are nonetheless not typically considered gods.

Although she technically qualifies, the Lady of Pain is rarely considered a power, probably due to superstitious reasons: associating her with the powers may be too close to worship for many Cagers, and no one wants to be thrown to the Mazes.

The powers are one of the alliterative groups used to represent the denizens of the planes: primes, planars, petitioners, proxies, and powers.

Gods typically organize themselves into pantheons, where each pantheon is worshipped by a particular culture, race, or entire Prime world.

In terms of puissance, sages recognize several tiers: near-powers, demi-powers, lesser powers, intermediate powers, and greater powers.
