The Mercykillers are a faction who do believe in the primacy of justice. Justice purges evil and makes them better. Once everyone's been cleansed, the multiverse reaches perfection.
History[]
In the Great Upheaval of 503 BFHR, as the city's 50 factions try to reduce their number down to a mere 15, two factions -- the Sodkillers, a lawful evil group of hired muscle who would avenge perceived "wrongs" for the right amount of jink, and the Sons of Mercy, a lawful good group who would find loopholes for the wrongfully accused -- joined up as a single faction dedicated to justice. and the Mercykillers were born.
They created the Eight Tenets of Justice, the foundational document for the new faction.
- 174 BFHR: An Anarchist kills the factol of the Mercykillers via a spell, then managed to pin the blame on the Fated. The following war involved almost a dozen factions and results in the destruction of three of them.[1]
- 117 YFHR: The First Eschaton: A year of bad omens. Among other signs of bad luck, former Mercykiller Factol Votohm dies under mysterious circumstances.[2]
- 119 YFHR: Alisohn Nilesia, at 11 years old, once again attempts to become a full member of the Mercykillers. This time, Factol Mallin allows it.[3]
During the Faction War of 130 YFHR, the extremely charismatic Factol Alisohn Nilesia had been sold to demonic slavery in the Lower Planes. When the Lady told all factions to abandon the city, the leaderless Mercykillers splintered back into their constituent factions: the Sodkillers present themselves as the Minder's Guild, a group of bodyguards and mercenaries. The Sons of Mercy, under command of Arwyl Swan's Son, oversee the Prison and attempt to act as a police force, but few recognize their authority.
