The Fated are a faction who believe "might makes right." Not just in terms of physical strength, but intelligence and cunning as well. If you can take something, then you are the rightful owner.

History[]

The faction's original purpose was more about need than greed, but the philosophy slowly changed over the centuries.

  • 174 BFHR: An Anarchist kills the factol of the Mercykillers via a spell, then managed to pin the blame on the Fated. The following war involved almost a dozen factions and resulted in the destruction of three of them.[1]
  • 125 YFHR: Duke Rowan Darkwood enters Sigil, and very shortly becomes one of the two most-powerful people in the city, the Factol of the Fated. He takes over from Factol Emma Oakwright.[2][3][4]

After the Faction War, as the faction was licking its wounds over the betrayal of their Factol, the Fated were forced to worry more about survival than wealth, and their philosophy started to turn more towards the original intent.

Philosophy[]

The multiverse belongs to those who can seize it. No one's to blame for a poor sod's fate but the sorry sod himself.

Role[]

The Fated, who prize possession above all else, run the Hall of Records, where they act as the city's tax collectors.

Membership[]

Factotums

If a namer wants to become a factotum, he must challenge an existing factotum who's got the job he wants. Challenges are resolved twice a week in the first-floor auditorium at the Rowan Academy of Training.

Benefits: Since they take it upon themselves to learn about any environment they'll be traveling to, Taker factotums of 3rd level or higher gain access to the plane knowledge nonweapon proficiency.

Known Factotums:

  • Aram Oakwright[7]
