The Believers of the Source are a faction who believe that everyone is constantly being tested, with all of us progressing to a higher form. If not in this life, then the next. Eventually, everyone and everything will become a god. At that point, the multiverse ends. That cycle of testing and ascension is the purpose of the multiverse.
History[]
Previous factols:
- Perrine (not formally a Faction, pre-Godsmen organization, possibly the Forgesmiths?)[1]
- Factol Augy of Faunel (during the Great Upheaval, added the reincarnation philosophy)[2]
- The factol previous to Ambar, Curran, grants her followers spells of healing and protection.[3]
Philosophy[]
Role[]
The process of purification and creating anew is a metaphorical forge, so it makes sense that the Godsmen would take up the operation of the Great Foundry, Sigil's literal forge.
Membership[]
Namers serve informal apprenticeships with factotum mentors, and is put to work in some respect within the Great Foundry.
Benefits: All Godsmen have the same benefits, regardless of rank. They gain a +2 bonus (or +10%) to all encounter reactions with planars, but cannot be resurrected or raised. Most importantly, because belief becomes reality, and they believe strongly enough that they can eventually become a power, they actually can.
When a mentor considers a namer worthy of the responsibility of a factotum, they're presented to a factor for evaluation and testing. These tests may be tasks or unusual puzzles, tailored to probe fears and limitations.
Benefits: Some factotums and factors on special missions can be found with a source token. The token can transport the user directly to the Ethereal plane from anywhere in the multiverse, but it vanishes once used.
Known Factotums:
Similar tests to those used to become a factotum are repeated to advance to factor, and are administered in Ambar's Palace.
